I loved the MiG display at Fairford and some fairly obscene contradictions of popular aerodynamics were in evidence. What I want to know, is how they kept the donks turning. The angle off was right through 360 degrees (twice, on the double somersault and the changes were SO abrupt) and yet the engines didn't complain or (thankfully) go a bit quiet. I am sure that there were for instance, some rueful former F-14 or F-111 drivers there, that simply do not believe what they saw. Credit, where credit is due. I think that to be the most emphatic display of care free handling that I have ever seen. The engine might not last as long as the equivalent western unit, but by G - it keeps going.

What a stunning display and thank you Mig, for bringing it here.

Does the OVT have some sort of blow-in doors above and/or below the intake trunks? Even if there is no 'ram' flow through the intakes if the hole is big enough you can suck hard! (a la hovering Harrier, etc). Dunno. Mayby the Tumansky? boys know a thing or two about donks!

Those are, I'm told, doors which enable the a/c to taxi with doors covering the in-takes closed, to prevent FOD damage on poor quality run and taxi ways
