Hi corrumba! Pretty amazing piece of kit, defies a few of the more common principals of flight!

:ok:

Navaleye 19th Jul 2006 18:43

Nothing an F3 couldn't do. :hmm: :ugh:

oldbeefer 19th Jul 2006 19:22

Navaleye - nice to see you still have a sense of humour!

The Helpful Stacker 19th Jul 2006 19:26

Well an F3 could try.......

I'm guessing the F3 don't open it's canopy halfway down the runway !!!..lol

ORAC 19th Jul 2006 21:03

Pity that, in the real world, he 'd suck an AMRAAM at 30+ miles....

Still, I bet the bits fluttering down would do a few nice back flips and rolls.... :hmm:

Daifly 19th Jul 2006 21:43

It's been displaying at Farnborough all week and is fecking stunning.

Green Flash 20th Jul 2006 07:06

Displayed at RIAT and it was the dogs conkers there too. Nice idea to put the OVT and the F-18 on back to back, gave a nice contrast between the vectoring jet and a standard jet (although flown by the decidedly non-standard Ric T again!). Agreed, Mr BVR might have a wry smile on his face but I wouldn't put it past Pavel & co to out-turn it! Still, fantasmagorical piece of kit. :ok:

Hey, I'm no FJ jock, but I can land like that!:E

Here's a pic I took at Fairford on Saturday, you can see the angle of the nozzles quite clearly

Yes, fortunately they spent money on the F3 to make it a capable fighter, not to look good at airshows.

I know bait bitten but I can't help myself!:p

Dogfish 20th Jul 2006 19:04

Saw the dispay at Fairford and it was truly amazing. I was lucky enough to have a few words with the pilot at the hanger bash, just after he had been awarded the prize for the best display and just before the annual bread roll fight really got going. The man is as mad as a bucket of eels but he was more than willing to talk to some of the mere mortals at the party. Nice bloke, top display.:D

phil gollin 21st Jul 2006 06:48

The back-flip at about 2 mins 50 sec is just weird

Runaway Gun 21st Jul 2006 09:32

Very impressive! Was the back flip a super form of the ole' Cobra high AOA manouver?

Shame they failed at that too.

Dogfish

I also managed a quick chat with Mr Mig in the flight center. He seemed quiet genuinly impressed that alot of people were eagerly awaiting his display. I suppose to him it's the day job.

I don't agree with those that say that this is a forum for professional pilots and none else gets a say, but I think you should be careful of making sweeping statements on matters that squash, politics, Kilmarnock FC and a sales job really don't qualify you for.

For example I would never say that Kilmarnock are rubbish and are about as likely to play entertaining football as Bush is to go to North Korea for his summer hols - cos I'm not really qualified! :p

But hey you've made over a thousand posts so you must know what you are talking about!

Well I was trying to work out your background and you remind me of a lot of old F4 guys I've come across - but I don't think you are! Also I don't understand the Bill Hicks thing!

My point was that unless you are currently actively involved in FJ stuff and have recent experience in a field then its hard to comment on. If I may use the mighty BEagle as an example - he knows lots about lots and even used to fly an F4 (I think) but I wouldn't really value his opinion on current FJ ops. Of course, I would never dream of correcting him on matters CAA!!

On the other hand I suppose this is a rumour network and is full of people spouting on matters of which they have no idea, so maybe I should relax a little and not worry so much!

Cheers
