Chance of reserve call up?
With the coming conflict in Iraq which I am sure will go ahead no matter what the UN weapons inspectors find, the govt is calling up thousands of reservists.
Question is, will these all be grunts in the army "cannon fodder", or is there any chance that ex-RAF aircrew will be required (such as myself).
I know a few civvi airline guys still fly weekends as active reservists, but I am talking about guys who haven't touched military hardware for say 2 to 5 years, but who are still liable for recall.
Also if recalled would aircrew reservists go through some kind of short OCU, or just go into ops support roles etc.
Thanks for any enlightenment on this issue.

I think you will find that those that are being called up will have received a letter by now. Also, those that are getting the call are those that actively still fly with the RAF as opposed to those who have a reserve liability. I suspect you will have to sit this one out........

Don't know if the word is still in use but I think this might be the type of thread that calls for a gentle "Beadwindow" reminder.

Its too late this vital information is now already in the public domain. I expect that due to this leakage to the enemy the war against Sadam will be extended by at least a month.
No wait, it was in the papers days ago all is fine no need to panic

No panic at all, just a gentle reminder.
Of course, I don't read the papers at all. And if I get called up I want to be back home in time for Easter.
