This is one of those threads in which I don't necessarily feel qualified to participate, so I quietly observe it instead; however, a question has popped to mind.

Sometime, probably within the lifetimes of most folk contributing here even if not within their service careers, we will likely be faced with the need and ability to form a "Space Force."

The hardware employed by such a force will be known as "Ships"; and yet in operation, they will be "flown".

Which service should command such a force, and from which service/s should most of its personelle be drawn?

Well, the US military space presence is controlled by the USAF, and here in the UK the RAF is responsible for the military satellites. So I guess the air forces got their towels down first on that one.

In future, I suppose the Army would want to form a special "Lunar Warfare" regiment, and the Navy would have a fleet for sailing on the surface of liquid planets!! Then there could be a big slanging match about who controls the transport craft that move the units out there, and who flies the X-wings giving fighter cover. Make it so, Number One!
