Rather than personally attacking me, I would rather you point out whatever it is that you found factually incorrect in my post.
Was it that I referenced that the IDF are looking to replicate their tactcs in Gaza with the destruction of villages and the civilian infrastructure? https://www.nbcnews.com/world/lebano...ion-rcna265242
Is it that I stated that the IDF are forcing the civilian population from their homes and land? https://www.unhcr.org/news/briefing-...crisis-deepens
If you believe that I am mistaken in saying that the IDF have provided no evidence to justify the killing of the unarmed journalists, please provide a link to such.
I have nothing to do with the article that I referenced but if you believe that anything in it is false, then please point it out for us.
If however, you accept that the IDF carried out these killings and your only gripe is that you would rather such actions by the IDF not be mentioned, then that dog don't hunt.

You will find that, are previous threads descended into acrimony and argument, as already seems to be happening here, the Mods made it plain that the threads were were just to discuss military matters and any political and other connotations were to be discussed on Jet Blast.
Even in Jet Blast you will find theses threads being further subdivided. e.g. Iran/Why not attack Iran; Cuba/Why not attack Cuba.
I would suggest that, to minimise the work of the Modes here, a Jet Blast Palestine or Why not attack Palestine thread would be appropriate..

ORAC, this thread is about IDF operations in Lebanon versus Hezbollah, so "Why Not Attack Palestine?" would not fit as the topic.
Let us dispense with the mutual needling and return to the topic: which is not each other.
Thank you all in advance.

From Al Jazeera: a stark contrast.

So it's not going to stop anytime soon.
Where are the displaced million going to go?
EDIT: While some are internally displaced, others have fled to Syria.
When will it be safe to return home?

The Israeli military has said four soldiers were killed in combat in southern Lebanon, where its forces are clashing with Hezbollah fighters after launching a ground invasion of the country. An army statement on Tuesday named three soldiers from the same battalion who “fell during combat”. In a separate statement, it said another soldier had been killed in the same incident and two others wounded, without naming them.
Ten Israeli soldiers have been reported killed since fighting between Israel and Hezbollah flared up on March 2, following a United States-Israeli joint attack on Iran.
More than 1,200 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, and more than a million displaced.
On Tuesday, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli drone attacks killed four people in southern Lebanon: a strike on a car in the al-Wasita Al-Qasimiya area near Tyre killed two, while another raid on Derikifa killed two more people. This comes a day after the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said two peacekeepers were killed “when an explosion of unknown origin destroyed their vehicle” near the southern Lebanese village of Bani Haiyyan. Another peacekeeper was killed by a projectile on Sunday near the southern Lebanese village of Aadchit el-Qsair.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday ordered the military to expand its invasion in southern Lebanon, pushing deeper to extend what he calls a “buffer zone” reaching the Litani River.

This directive represents a significant escalation in Israel’s forced evacuation threats targeting alleged Hezbollah positions. The forced evacuation zone now extends from the Litani River to areas beyond the Zahrani River, approximately 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the Israeli border. According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, these orders cover more than 1,470 square kilometres (568sq miles) – about 14 percent of Lebanon’s territory – and affect more than 100 towns and villages.
At the same time, Israeli ground forces are bolstering their presence in southern Lebanon, with officials stating the goal is to establish a “buffer zone.”
The humanitarian impact has been devastating.
Within just two weeks, more than 18 percent of Lebanon’s population – more than one million people – has been displaced. Data from the International Organization for Migration indicates that 1,049,328 individuals have been registered as displaced, with 132,742 residing in overcrowded collective shelters. As shelter capacities are overwhelmed, many families have no choice but to sleep on streets, in vehicles, or in public spaces.
The crisis has also prompted a significant exodus from Lebanon.
In the past two weeks, more than 250,000 people have fled the country, marking a 40 percent increase since late February. By March 17, more than 125,000 individuals – nearly half of them children – had crossed into Syria. While the majority are Syrian nationals, approximately 7,000 Lebanese citizens have also fled.

"All houses in villages near the Lebanese border will be destroyed, in accordance with the model used in Rafah and Beit Hanoun in Gaza, in order to permanently remove the threats near the border to northern residents," he said.

This is the most significant Hezbollah figure killed in the entire war so far. As the commander of Hezbollah's Southern Front, Hajj Yusuf Ismail Hashem oversaw the Nasser and Aziz Units, two division-sized regional formations responsible for defending all the territory south of the Litani River and near the Golan border.
The Badr Division is meant to protect Hezbollah's rear in Southern Lebanon. Spanning from the Litani to the Awali River, its area of responsibility includes major cities such as Nabatieh and Sidon.
Hashem was also responsible for commanding the 1-2k Radwan fighters deployed to the southern border from their previous positions in the Baalbek sector.

On the night of March 28th a combined force from the 401st Armored and 84th Givati Infantry Brigades embarked upon an operation to infiltrate Aaitana in an effort to flank Bint Jbeil from the northeast. There were two attack vectors, one originating from the border town of Malkiya, and the other from Khallet al-Taruq, south of Maroun el-Ras.
> These forces passed through the Aitaroun-Bint Jbeil road in the al-Khanouq neighborhood within Aitaroun. From there a grouping of at least 4 Merkava tanks, 2 bulldozers, and 1 APC advanced along the rural hill east of Bint Jbeil. Hezbollah claims a total of 25 armored vehicles were involved in this advance, although this sounds very excessive.
> At 1:30am an armored force reached the Ghadmatha heights which directly overlook Aainata from the east. Hezbollah claims they detonated Shawaz IEDs on a Merkava and D9 bulldozer in the area. This halted the Israeli advance throughout the morning/noon of the 29th as they were focused on rooting out forward Hezbollah cells with air/artillery support.
> 401st/Givati resumed their advance at 3pm and reached houses in eastern Aaitana on al-Sidr hill. Hezbollah claims to have detonated Shawaz IEDs on 2 tanks in this area. Despite close-quarters resistance and ATGM fire, the Israeli ground force pushed deeper into the town over the next 7 hours, pushing past the Victory Theater, a sports complex, bakery, football field, school, clinic, and eventually reached Friz Hill in NE Aaitana.
> Overnight there were 15 Hezbollah rocket/ATGM attacks on Israeli forward positions. In the 2 days since, a larger quantity of Israeli soldiers have started amassing in the residential areas of Aaitana, although the central/western parts of the towns haven't been cleared yet.

Lebanon Update: Full details on the ambushes/clashes/advances in Beit Lif and Aaitaroun:
> For the past week the 162nd Armored Division's been operating in the Beit Lif sector with several objectives. The immediate goal was to seize control of ridges between Beit Lif and Salhaneh that overlook border towns such as Shtula and Zarit.
> But more broadly the division is tasked with undermining Hezbollh's forward positions in the "central sector", located in the eastern part of the Aziz Division's area of responsibility. The "central sector" leading up to Qana is characterized by heavy slopes, heights, forested patches, and low-lying ravines.
> The 401st Armored Brigade conducted the initial advances in Qouzah and Debel. On March 30th at ~5pm, Hezbollah targeted one of the unit's Merkava tanks with tandem projectiles in southeastern Beit Lif. But in recent days the 933rd Nahal Infantry Brigade has also been deployed to the frontlines.
> Nahal's 934th Patrol Battalion led the way in an advance from Ramyeh and Qouzah to the southern and SW outskirts of Beit Lif. Taking advantage of cover from foliage and nearby structures, a squad from the 934th Battalion gradually entered the town. At 6:30pm the reconnaissance grouping paused their advance after entering the town's first houses.
> They let a tank bypass them in order to protect the infantry and lead combing operations. The forward reconnaissance group was accompanied by members of the Oketz canine unit that were using dogs to detect booby traps in complex terrain. As the infantry were crossing a local road Radwan elements detonated explosives, launched mortars, and opened fire on the Israelis with small arms and machine guns. During this first clash 1 Israeli was killed and 3 were wounded.
> A nearby squad of Nahal patrolmen rushed forward to provide support, but they came under fire from the rear and flank, killing 3 other soldiers, including the leader of the group, Captain Noam Madmoni. It isn't clear whether these soldiers were still in their Eitan armored fighting vehicle when they were targeted. During the commotion, tanks were deployed to the scene of the clashes in order to provide fire support during the evacuations. Hezbollah fighters targeted these tanks with ATGMs, but Israeli media claims they missed.
> After hours of heavy engagements, the IDF managed to retrieve all the killed and wounded and evacuated them from a nearby helicopter landing point. Looking more broadly, the IDF has seeped into the southern neighborhood of Beit Lif over the past 2 days, which is separated from the town center by a minor creak near Wadi Muzlem.
> The 401st Brigade continues conducting raids from Khallat al-Jawwar towards Beit Lif's eastern and Rchaf's southern outskirts. On March 30th, there was an interesting report from local sources about IDF activity around Wadi al-Ghadr, situated between the towns of Srebbine and Haris.
> Both of these towns are located north of the contact line. Perhaps the reports were faulty, both it's possible that the IDF is now using the fields north of Debel as a springboard to bypass well-defended towns from the flanks and infiltrate their rears. In this case such an advance would give Israel access to some of the ridges overlooking the entry/exit points of key towns like Yater & At-Tiri.
> On March 31st at 6pm, Hezbollah reported on a tank infiltration into Rchaf. By tomorrow morning we'll get more details on the extent of this attempted advance. It's important to note that elements of the 401st Brigade will likely expand their salient near Birket al-Hajar eastwards in an effort to isolate forward Radwan/Aziz elements in Hanine, Bint Jbeil, and Aaitaroun. Advances from the flanks also reduce the attrition imposed during head-on assaults through dense neighborhoods.

Short Lebanon Update:
> Over the past 2 days the 162nd Armored Division had expanded its control within Rchaf and Beit Lif. The Nahal Brigade took advantage of its forward positions in al-Qouzah in order to infiltrate Beit Lif's southern neighborhoods. The Nahal Brigade's 934th Reconnaissance Battalion is already pushing into the center of the town.
> They engaged in close-quarters clashes with forward Radwan/Aziz cells within Beit Lif, lightly injuring 2 Israeli soldiers. Israel's upcoming objective is to close in on the densest neighborhood in the town. Hezbollah cells are till present in the winding roads, narrow alleyways, and multi-storey buildings in the center. IDF is simultaneously pushing in this direct from the south and from Ain el-Ayoun to the east.
> The 46th Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade is likely the unit spreadheading advances into Rchaf. IDF advanced from the low-lying Ain el-Ayoun wedge into the southern section of Rchaf. Hezbollah targeted the advancing Israeli infantry and armored vehicles with rockets and mortars. A secondary strike force is attacking southeastern Rchaf from Birket al-Hajar with the intention of cutting off the road to Haddatha.
> The 146th Reserve Armored Division has largely cleared Chamaa. On April 1st there were clashes in the village center near the local mosque and housing complexes. Hezbollah targeted Israeli infantry with small arms, ATGMs, and mortars as they were advancing. Israeli vehicles penetrated as far as the Chamaa castle where they were targeted by ATGM crews in Majdal Zoun.

ORAC, how would you feel if a foreign power had landed a 70,000 strong army into your homeland and then began to conduct military operations from your home soil, despite your home government not wishing that to happen?

The IDF announces that it has deployed a sixth division to southern Lebanon amid the ongoing ground offensive against Hezbollah.
The 98th Division, an elite formation of paratroopers and commando units, in the past week began "targeted ground operations to additional objectives in southern Lebanon," the military says.
The IDF also says that troops have "completed their deployment" along the so-called "anti-tank line," several kilometers deep into Lebanon, from which Hezbollah could launch anti-tank guided missiles at Israeli communities.
The military says the troops now "continue operating in the area to strengthen the forward defensive line and remove threats to residents of the north."
According to the military, five IDF divisions are now involved in the ground offensive against Hezbollah: 146th and 162nd are pushing into the western sector, the 91st and 36th are carrying out raids in the eastern sector.
In addition, the IDF's 210th "Bashan" Regional Division is stationed in the Mount Dov area and has conducted several raids on the Lebanese side of the mountain.

The Lebanese army calls on civilians not to return to villages in southern Lebanon, after Israel said the ceasefire in Iran does not apply to the fighting against Hezbollah.
"In light of the regional developments and the circulation of reports about a ceasefire, the army command calls on citizens to refrain from returning to the southern villages and towns and to avoid approaching areas where Israeli occupation forces have advanced, in order to preserve their safety, especially as they may expose their lives to the danger of ongoing Israeli attacks," the Lebanese Armed Forces says in a statement.

The Israeli Air Force says it has just completed its largest wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon since the start of the fighting, targeting 100 sites within 10 minutes.
According to the IDF, the targets hit in Beirut, the Beqaa Valley, and southern Lebanon included Hezbollah command centers and other military infrastructure.
The military says that among the targets were intelligence headquarters and offices used by Hezbollah to plan attacks on IDF troops and Israeli civilians; infrastructure of Hezbollah's rocket and naval units; and assets of the terror group's elite Radwan Force and aerial unit.
"This is the largest attack carried out against Hezbollah’s infrastructures since the start of Operation Roaring Lion," the military says.

Apocalyptic scenes in Lebanon’s capital right now.
Israel has launched 100 airstrikes on Lebanon in 10 minutes. Striking South Lebanon, Beirut and the Bekaa Valley simultaneously.
This isn’t a ceasefire. It’s mass bombardment of civilian areas.

The IDF says it is close to capturing Hezbollah stronghold Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, after a major offensive led by the 98th Division.
The military says forces encircled the town, then pushed in, killing over 100 Hezbollah operatives, destroying infrastructure and seizing large amounts of weapons.
“Over the past week, the forces completed the encirclement and launched an offensive in the town of Bint Jbeil,” the IDF said.
Operations are ongoing, with commanders estimating a few more days to eliminate remaining fighters and secure the area.
