This is the most significant Hezbollah figure killed in the entire war so far. As the commander of Hezbollah's Southern Front, Hajj Yusuf Ismail Hashem oversaw the Nasser and Aziz Units, two division-sized regional formations responsible for defending all the territory south of the Litani River and near the Golan border.
The Badr Division is meant to protect Hezbollah's rear in Southern Lebanon. Spanning from the Litani to the Awali River, its area of responsibility includes major cities such as Nabatieh and Sidon.
Hashem was also responsible for commanding the 1-2k Radwan fighters deployed to the southern border from their previous positions in the Baalbek sector.
