RAF No.2 S/D Cap

Can anyone recommend a half decent S/D cap. I have recently been issued a replacement which looks, quite frankly ridiculous. Something between a Soviet general and Major Mohn springs to mind. The old one came from thieves and hawkes but must be about 50 years old as I inherited it from my father. Are there any modern manufacturers that some kind chap could recommend that supply something remotely wearable?

I think I got mine via Moss Bros. Although it was a long while ago and (b) I was but a humble VR(T)........
Hope this helps.

Sadly they no longer make RAF hats. I bought my Bates in the mid 1980s for the princely sum of £50 (£150 equivalent today), I still have it but had to retire it from every day use about 15 years ago as it had become too ‘operational’. I recently was Issued one from stores when I started as a VR pilot and the quality is dreadful, not a patch on the Bates.

I had thought it was expensive (but worth it) but compared to the offering mentioned above at £355…!

Correct… but the IP might work with the cadet force and not have No 1s so considers it the No 2 cap. The usual pprune approach is one of excessive pedantry and pointless attention to irrelevant detail which is why the No 1/ No 2 distinction was being ignored… for a while anyway.
