Wg Cdr Mark ‘MT’ Hand

I regret to announce the death of Wg Cdr Mark ‘MT’ Hand RAF Regt. Mark passed away yesterday after a short illness in his newly adopted home of Bali. He had a long career in the RAF Regt serving all over the globe including some time at Staff College as DS. Following his military career he worked for a number of years in Qatar from where he retired a few short weeks ago.

Thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult time.

Blimey, I remember him from 159 at Honington when he was OC FTs in the late 90s and from Harrier force in Germany a few years earlier. We're all older than we think. RiP.

Knew of him while he was a Flying Officer on 66 Squadron RAF Regiment at West Raynham in the later half of the 1980s. RIP Sir

Crikey - I spent a fair amount of time working with Mark when he was at Shrivenham. I think he posted something - about golf - on Facebook just a few days ago (former Shrivenham inmates may recall there was a flag from one of the Open golf tournaments mounted in a frame on his office wall). He was a jolly decent chap, and I'm very sorry to hear that he's no longer with us.
