Nigerian Air Force in action

NAF strikes hit oil thieves, terrorists (msn.com)

© provided by Daily Post Nigeria
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it has carried out successful air interdiction missions on some illegal refining sites and terrorist hideouts, respectively, in the Niger Delta and North East.... on August 27, carried out air interdiction missions on some illegal refining sites located at Cawthorne Channels, Bille, and Gogokori in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers...the illegal refining sites were attacked and destroyed in the area... Cotonou boat observed to be loaded with illegally refined products and heading into open waters was also engaged and destroyed at Gogokori.
What with the ECOWAS intervention being possible in Niger, this article caught my eye. (Post edited to convey essential information).
....similar strikes were conducted at Idama in AkukuToru Local Government Area and Omoma in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers upon receipt of intelligence of refining activities at the two locations. Also destroyed on August 25 were four militant camps: three in Bakassi Local Government Area and one in Calabar South Local Government Area in Cross River.

I know those areas quite well, except the Chinene location mentioned in the MSN article. If accurate it's a good start. When I used to fly over the Niger Delta and Bakassi areas there were literally hundreds of bunkering barges and illegal oil tapping operations, clearly visible.

There was a suspicion that the level of collusion between the "Big Oga" politicians, rich men and military hierarchy meant impunity was the norm. Barges would be openly towed offshore to waiting tankers in broad daylight.

The use of their Alpha Jets is relatively recent, but they’ve been doing the same with their Hinds (Mi-35s) for 20 years.

I just thought the thread title had inserted an extra space between "in" and "action"...
