·As confirmed By the bloodhound preservation society, UK it is the only known unit in existence that has survived 74 Years !!
·The JTV1 is the first British aircraft to operate continually at supersonic speeds mach2
Chuck Yeager set a new speed record of Mach 2.44 aboard the X-1A in 1953 as a manned flight, but what was the first item to travel at Mach 2 …………..
Weight unsure but 200-300kg
Length 7000mm (7m)
Width 900mm (0.9m)
Hight 750mm (0.75m)
1949 Jet Test Vehicle to develop ramjet technology. The vehicle was initially launched with four 5" cordite xxxxxxxx mounted near the front of the fuselage, but later by two 7.5" cordite xxxxxx at the rear, 6'1" (1.85m) long and giving 3,100 kg thrust each for 2.0 seconds. Each booster weighed 61 kg, with 31 kg being propellant. The ramjets were 6" (0.15m) in diameter and operated at between Mach 1 and over Mach 2. The first really successful flight was on 19 July 1951 after many partial successes during development tests.
JTV-1 ramjet powered test vehicle on launcher at Aberporth. Round.07 and the seventh flight. The booster arrangement here is four groups of two five-inch solid boosters with canted nozzles mounted at the front, indexed at 45° away from the two ramjets at the back.
JTV - Jet Test Vehicle was Britain's first ramjet-powered XXXXXX test vehicle, here fired at Aberporth in 1949.
