A bit late date wise, but you learn something every day.

That's fantastic Nutty - thanks for posting. And it's not "just" that it's a fantastic, respectful thing to do, but if the chap in the video is representative of the whole effort, then the time, care, attention and effort that he/they are expending, raises it beyond fantastic.
Good to see them making the names clearly visible.
A few years back I was at Point du Hoc and talked to a party of current US Rangers who were there paying respect to their predecessors and also visiting the Normandy Cemetery.
Making no judgement but it highlights the different US and UK approaches to their war dead. There are eight US WWII cemeteries in France (of a total 24 ABMC cemeteries outside the US); there are a 115 sites with CWGC graves in Calvados alone.
The CWGC has a rolling programme of inspection and restoration, including involving volunteers who are reponsible for particular graves, the criterion is that the inscription should always be visible.

The CWGC does amazing work - we were in Ambon in E Indonesia a few years ago... by far the neatest , quietest nicest place in the city
