Dispersal and resilience are back in vogue due to recent geostrategic developments, and the RAF is doing its usual thing of trying to keep up with the USAF's response, but (as ever) without the funding or the real estate.

Similar with the first Watchman ATC displays; they had a special non-reflective coating and we were told do NOT use a ballpoint pen to 'point' at a track on your display because it left a mark which was impossible to remove.

As we arrived at Ash we were all frisked to remove all chinagraph pencils. My Warrant Officer Nigel was bereft! The chinagraph clogged up the mesh over the screen causing the disposal of a £30,000 display.
The withdrawal of China graphs meant we were, instead, issued with non-permanent marker pens to update our boards on the FA console showing the upcoming flypro etc, resulting in various spit and spray bottle solutions to clean and keep them up to date

Meaning we ended up each shift looking like Māori warriors….
