RPAS Pilot Role Opening

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on on why the RPAS pilot role is currently closed. My guess would be a backlog of candidates and no current requirement for anymore.

I have spoken with the recruitment staff and have only been told the role has been closed for a while, with that in mind, is there anyone that might be able to provide a greater insight or can suggest another method of approach?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe do a bit of research before you apply for OASC?

The Protector unmanned aerial vehicle was originally intended to enter service in 2018 to coincide with retirement of the Reaper predecessor capability. The Department’s forecast date for initial operating capability (IOC) was July 2021 by the time the decision was taken to delay the programme because of budgetary pressures. 20 IOC is now expected in November 2023, requiring extension of Reaper at an additional cost of £50 million.

Plenty of radio control model flying clubs around. Hone your skills until a job comes up.

If there are no openings at present, you could always start off a bit smaller scale on the battlefield: UAS
