WW2 RAF pilots uniform found under a bed.

Not bad for a WW2 pilot to be wearing the rank of SAC that only came into being on January 1st, 1951.
If it was the old guys he obviously held it in high asteem, pity they never buried him in it.
Hansons said it believed the style of the uniform discovered was worn by RAF pilot crew until 1941 and by ground staff until 1943.
The jacket, which has brass buttons and a belt, features an emblem of a three-blade propeller on the sleeve, which the auction house said indicates the uniform of a senior aircraftman.
The package was found during a house clearance, wrapped in crumpled brown paper and yellowing newspapers tied with string.

The RAF uniform will be auctioned on September 24 and is expected to sell for between £200 and £300 ($280-$420).
Its even still got the size label on the trousers (rare as should have been removed on issue) so the trousers in particular are very collectable and very rare compared to the jackets.
I've seen trousers go for £150 on their own.

Thanks, I've got so much surplus junk including a flying suit, two aircrew knives - one of the pointed type and the other with the curved blade- and a green inner helmet, I might get the stuff to the local Hansons with my Mess Kit and sell !

Sorry All But that is exactly the same uniform (except for the SAC Badge ) as the working blue of Boy Entrants in 1950/60s
The material is far too rough for a Pilots delicate skin.
Take a look at

We had the thunderbirds kit issued in 76, but the WRAF courses that arrived at Saints at the same time had been issued Hairy Mary’s and were asking us all for pairs of pyjama bottoms to wear under them.

Strangely enough, they didn't want any of my almost unused KD clothing back - mind you, I looked like something out of a Carry On film wearing it.
My No. 1 blue and Mess Kit are still in my wardrobe - but they are for a bloke about twenty five years younger and much slimmer than me. I'm annoyed that my best SD hat seems to have gone missing in inaction.

I'd love the pointy knife if you were ever getting rid... Charity of your choice maybe? I only have the scimitar (as if) version.

No pilot's wings on the tunic. Could be the gent's old WW2 uniform cleaned for safe keeping.
Why are people perpetuating that rubbish?
Looks like its been wrapped by an old fashioned laundry or dry cleaner. I recall clothes in the '50's being folded and wrapped in brown paper and tied with string.
