Old RAF airfields
Help required please.
On my previous computer I had a Google Earth overlay of old RAF airfields. Unfortunately it did not transfer to my current new one.
I have done a search for 'Old RAF Airfields' which unfortunately came up with several non-working links. Can anyone please point me towards a working one?
Many thanks

I have the overlay on Google Earth and its title is RAF Stations. There are various subsets that can be selected including Flying Stations. I remember that the guide to it was here on PPRuNe, possibly in the Gaining a RAF Pilots Brevet in WWII thread. Hope that helps.
Oh, found it here :-

Chugalug2.
Many thanks for your time. The link you suggested works. However, the one I was looking for had all the old airfields pre-loaded every time Google Earth was logged onto.

FWIW the title RAF Stations is nested in My Places on my GE. I don't want to mess around with GE for fear of losing the overlay, but try placing "RAF Stations" into your My Places? Doubt it will work but worth a try?
Chevron's ARG link leads to a forum which in turn links to a GE thread, 2008-13. That may include a working link to the RAF Stations overlay. Best perhaps to work from the end (ie latest posts) of the thread :-

Many thanks to all who replied to my query.
From some replies it sounds like Chugalug2 came up with the answer to my request. Unfortunately for me, when I entered the 'tiny url' address he offered all I got was the error message 'Page 404 not found'
I am not computer smart enough to work through that so will hope that someone can come up with a different route to Chigalug2's page
Many thanks

There is a kml download option under the 3 dots next to the title
If you need to know how to get the file into GoogleEarth. just ask

Why not just make new set? As part of another project I needed to mark all the airfields in a particular county, and found it so interesting that I ended up doing them all.
There was a thread which told you precisely how to put past and present RAF stations as an overlay on Google Earth. I have it on my old laptop but I cannot find out how to do to my new GE.
Which GE on what OS? I might be able to help using the link above or if you have a kml file
Thread drift. My sister bought a property at Martlesham Heath. Dad, ex Lancaster pilot ( later Flt Eng) sat with her in the the pub - The Bader- gazing out the window at the remaining 30 yds of taxi way - reminisced that he probably taxied through through the spot where he was sitting when he had landed there during WWII.

A bit more drift as it doesn't pertain to Google. "Abandoned, Forgotten & Little Known Airfields in Europe".
