Lost Comrade - Mike Tarry (RAF)

To all those who knew Mike Tarry (RAF), he sadly passed away in late November 2020 after a short illness. More information is available on the dignity funerals co uk website if you search under his name. Unfortunately as this is a first post I cannot provide a link. Perhaps a follow on poster can do that please?

Blue skies

A sad loss to the world, always smiling and a lot of fun to be with too. A great all round ability at everything he tried as well.

Mike was a student when I was on the F3 OCU staff; he was an excellent pilot and great fun to be around. Utterly irrepressible, I sat opposite him at a squadron dining in night and he swiftly proceeded to light the blue touch paper of both himself and those around him. That I remember the evening and his part in it so clearly 25 years later says a lot about his tremendous character and sense of fun. A tragic loss, my thoughts are with his family.

Remember him from the ULAS some 32 years ago, and our paths crossed a few times in his F3 time. A character you never forgot as he was quite simply a delightful guy to meet. RIP Mike

Taken way too soon. This encapsulates his time with the RAF:

A little late but some poignant words which sum Mike up rather well. Not mine but kindly donated by another PPruner, they were in turn penned by his late friend EHM.....

He’s gone, that friend of mine,
His smile, his face, his joy of living.
Never more to sit on my wing,
To soar the heights totally free.

He’s gone, his life spent
In one brilliant, beautiful, burst of light.
No pain, no thoughts, just darkness.
His life glorious to the end.

His cheeky arrogance still rings in our ears,
His voice is still in our conversation.
We talk, we relive, he has not gone.
He listens now and smiles.

We will not let him go,
He lives on in our hearts and in our souls,
And we wait patiently for the day,
The day when once more we can soar together, totally free.
