Simply a matter of taste dear chap. Beauty is in the eye... etc.

It’s simply a little gauche IMHO. Something understated would have been my own preference, but as John Q Tax-payer, I along with others merely get to foot the bill.

And there's Britain's problem, always 'understated'...

Forgive me, but that's simply hyperbole. Although these things aren't exact and to perhaps to some extent gimmicky, the UK is 14th on the 2019 Democracy Index (higher than France, the US, Austria, Belgium, Portugal and Japan, for example) and holds the same place on the Democracy Ranking (a different organisation doing the assessment). The UK ranks highly on the Freedom Index (94 points out of 100; equal with Germany, ahead of France and the US again) and is 12th in the Rule of Law Index.

We're not perfect, but we're not a banana republic by a very long way.

I have to agree about AF01. Glad they’re losing that strange pale blue and random chrome look.

You'd have a job, Solarfilm went bust a couple of years ago...

Nah....

No matter how much I stare at it, it smacks of the best efforts of the Work Experience kid. Should’ve stuck to No. 32 (TR) Sqn livery....

How to describe the style of the new 'Boris Bus' ...

I agree that the 32 Sqn scheme is much, much more stylish. The new 'Bozza Bus' scheme seems to be an unholy union of a t*rt's boudoir and an ice cream van, IMHO. But then I have hated the 'slanty' styling of the current 'R' in Royal Air Force since its introduction. Each to their own, I suppose.
I feel sorry for the crews who will have to operate this visual horror - presumably they will emplane and deplane under cover of either night or a jacket over the head?

Last edited by Strumble Head; 25th Jun 2020 at 20:39. Reason: Correct typo in t*rt's

I wonder what the bit of crap that fell off the side at 2:59 in the video is. Bit of masking left on it? Seems to come from around the port horizontral stabiliser of possibly port side of teh vertical stabiliser.

Going to need some new nose wheels too.
That was bloody awful, im surprised they stayed on, seems pointless to paint a turning circle if you don’t use it.

On post 316 as the aircraft rotates a large piece of blue material appears to detach from the left wing root area and fall back onto the runway.
Could this be masking material which was not removed prior to flight?

that

Well the LAE that had to sign that paint job off failed his post paint inspection checks for removing all masking. God, that reminds me last year with the EJR repaints. Better not show them on here because they were tartan. May upset the St George lager brigade.

We had a whole fleet of aircraft and two complete RAF Stations dedicated to Royal/VIP transportation when I served back in the 60s/70s. For long-haul overseas diplomacy we'd happily convert two VC10s for Royal or Prime Ministerial trips at the drop of a hat. But of course RAF airmens' labour and paint supplies are free of charge, aren't they?
This has been brought up a number of times and has been shot down a number of times as well. ZZ336 is NOT from the surge fleet; it is a fully equipped three-point tanker and the only Voyager with a VIP fit. Henceforth it is for use by the government/Royal Family when required and may be tasked at any time. Not much point in letting Chav Air fly holidaymakers to Florida in it if that is the case. Is it?
