Battle of Britain/Dam Busters/Great Escape Films - good site to download/stream from?
Question:
I was watching "Sink the Bismark" last night. In the movie, there is a scene where the Bismark blows the bow off (and presumably sinks) a British Destroyer as it was making a torpedo run. I've read and seen a fair amount about the Bismark story, and other than the movie I don't recall ever seeing any reference to any British ships being hit or sunk by the Bismark after the battle with the Hood and Prince of Wales.
So, did that event actually happen, or was it a little artistic license by the film makers?

Actually HMS Dorsetshire, I had a relative in South Africa who served aboard during the Bismarck operation (he was deeply affected by the sight of the survivors) and later when the Dorsetshire was sunk in the Far East. He was pushed down the rapidly capsizing hull by an officer, lost a lot of skin and flesh on the barnacles attached to the hull (however the officer's action saved his life) then survived a couple of days clinging to wreckage after being strafed by Japanese. Eventually being rescued and then spending several months in hospital recovering.

I recently stumbled on "History Buffs" on youtube:

I very seldom sit and watch longer videos on youtube, but I found these enthralling (each review is ~ 30 minutes). Not all reviews are war flicks, but many are.
He loves two of my favorite WWII movies - "Tora, Tora, Tora" and "A Bridge Too Far" - two movies that were not overly successful when released but that have aged quite well. He also hates the movie "Pearl Harbor" - but that's pretty much a no-brainer as it's one of the worse war flicks ever.
