"Argos" is way past her sell by date - over 40 years old.
The question is does she need replacing or would we be better buying something to replace the Bay class? What strikes me is that we have no trouble selling Bay class vessels when they reach the end of their RN lives

MRSS is allegedly the Bay/Albion replacement.
Interesting snippet through a bit of obfuscation was that he is urgently waiting on the RN delivering a proposal for the interim littoral support ship could well be Argus not a Bay Class due to in part to her better aviation support capacity. Of course the expected new broom at No 10 could throw all plans and calculations in the air plus the possibility of a new SoS.
Especially as the current favourite, by quite a large margin, to be the new PM, is the current SoS.

The ministry said in a statement it has budgeted some €1.7 billion ($1.8 billion), including value-added tax (VAT), to procure the vehicles and cover related infrastructure costs. Officials said the contract’s final value could be higher and deliveries expected in 3 years.

"The decision to retain Argus and modify her to act in the LSS role in rotation with the Bay class is something of a compromise." - well, yes...... tho I guess if you can keep B-52's in service for 60+ years buffing up Argos is possible. Keep the good folks of Falmouth happy anyway

These sort of reports come out every couple of years - and they always make the same points
