Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

He's lucky. These guys were convicted in a civil court in Switzerland for an 'operational event' in which nothing happened (no damage, injuries etc). https://www.eurocockpit.be/news/two-...land-convicted

When the Human Rights act came in, we had an airman who decided that CO's inspections of his room in the barrack block was an infringement of his right to a private life and, further, that he was the tenant and the landlord therefore couldn't enter without his permission. Come the inspection, his bed-space was a complete tip. He was charged (and found guilty...) not with having a dirty bed-space but with disobeying the lawful order to tidy it up! He was also informed that whilst he might be the tenant, the Stn Cdr was acting as the landlord and had given due notice of the visit via SROs, so he could forget that argument as well. That put a stop to the antics of this aptly-named barrack room lawyer...

Years ago...doing Counter-Terrorism Firearms training involving Shotguns, Handguns, and fully automatic capable carbines/SMG's....we conducted a week long program of shooting that included bad guy, good guy, and hostage targets.

The minimum standard was 100% hits on bad guys only....head shots only.

For the full week....day and night shooting....indoors and out...from inside moving vehicles....at moving vehicles....with lots of stress factors added....we shot...shot...shot...shot...and shot.

Always in semi-auto mode with the fully automatic capable carbines and SMG's.

After we finished the training, and had some time left before transport arrived.....we were given the range and told to shoot up all the left over ammunition.

Needless to say....we went full auto and murdered every target....bad guys, good guys, the man holding the Umbrella.....and even the poor woman holding the infant!

The Instructors went livid.....what in the hell are you people doing....kind of livid.

Response...."Aw Hell....Boss....we just decided to kill them all and let God sort them out!".

Evidently....that was not funny judging from the reaction we got!

Some folks just need to get a sense of humor.

Last exercise I ever did at Brize they threw in an inject in "bomb detonated outside crewroom", they gave paper to some guy who was sitting watching his favourite, I never miss, and I mean never miss Soap opera on TV...
XYZ dead, rest injured what do you do?, he calmly picked up his SLR pointed it at the wounded, went bang, bang, bang and then sat down to carry on watching the soap. Livid Di staff were doing a WTF!!! when he calmly points out they will be a burden to the system, tying up valuable resources and manpower, probably would not survive, so he has simply relieved the station of the problem. Instant humour failure and they drag him off to the cells on a CPX murder charge.
