Given that the hangars and living accommodation are becoming dilapidated, the food that our servicemen have to eat is poor and training is reduced, all because of lack of funding, do we really want to be spending a lot of money on respraying aircraft which don't actually need it?

Yeah but once you single out one "group" then they will all want a coloured ft2 .....
Seriously though, one of the best things that I have read on pprunne, a fitting tribute to their lost colleague and the groundcrews who have supported the aircrews throughout the Services existance.

Its an expensive tribute using taxpayers money. It was a tragic accident and a former groundcrew myself I understand that but there are around 130 work related fatalities per year in the UK. I think that spending tens of thousands of pounds of someone else's money repainting an aircraft is not the right thing to do. I understand if you disagree.

Why does it always come down to money? I’m sure millions are mis-spent elsewhere.
Recognition and the honouring of a life lost, would IMHO be most fitting

The Red Arrows aircraft are regularly repainted as a matter of course. The on-cost of changing the livery of one of these repaints to blue would be minimal and, IMHO, would be a fitting tribute to Cpl Bayliss and ALL of the support team.
I would like to add that it is good to see Mike back in the team if only it were under happier circumstances.
Long before skytoons image I created this as my tribute.

SATCOS WHIPPING BOY, that's an excellent tribute.
If one of the Synchro Pair could be in the blue scheme, it would also introduce a new element to the display? Not just to commemorate the recent tragedy, but also to remind the genpub of the hard working blue part of the Team.

The RAFAT are aware of this as an idea. They have a facebook page and do interact with the people who post on there. The idea of a Blue Hawk has been mentioned many times.
Nuff said- was worried it was one of those, "I won't, 'cos loads will have already", moments.
That said, I have asked the Q on Facebook.

WELCOME TO THE NEW RAF WEBSITE
I wonder if that's a mistake, or a slow introduction to the truth. Perhaps this really is a website for the new RAF.
In what I can only describe as disappointing, but not surprising, the official RAF Website continues to show Flt Lt Stark as Red3.
https://www.raf.mod.uk/display-teams...rows/the-team/
It's a new website for the RAF...
The old one had become unsustainable (for a variety of reasons), and this is the first cut of the new one. As before (and contrary to the claims made by some members of the Phoenix Think Tank that the RAF has a PR and media organisation which makes News International look like something run out of a bedroom in Neasden), the number of people involved in maintaining it is relatively small, and the failure to instantly update the team membership, while regrettable isn't exactly surprising.
On the subject of how the cartoon differs from the photograph sold to the press, the difference is that it was initially presented as the artist's tribute to Cpl Bayliss. He was asked if he would sell it, and said he had no plans to do so. He was then asked to sell it by Cpl Bayliss's family; 20% of the monies raised will go to SSFA. While we could/might cavail at 20 rather than 30/50/100%, the fact that it's going on sale at the behest of the family would, I respectfully suggest, make the circumstances rather different from a photograph sold - as far as is known - purely for profit and showing in full colour for the delectation of the gawping masses and the horror of his friends and family the last moments of Cpl Bayliss...

I have not lost sight of the fact that this is just a website for the RAF, and not actually a vital part of delivering Air Power. However, if you are determined to be in the Rodeo, you need to ride a horse. Once any kind of business engages with the internet, you really need to keep your online presence sharp, relevant, accurate and up to date.
Drafts ought to be reviewed and corrected in private, to detect the worst of the howlers before going public. Regardless of how many, or few, staff are allocated to the project, there can be no excuse for releasing a page before the person responsible for it is content with the content, so to speak.
So, if you really must apologise for the limited number of people working on the website, and the busy schedule of those responsible for it...
Please tell me what has happened in the last 23 days, that has been more significant for the public face of the RAF, than the need to change a team member and acknowledge the incident at Valley?
p.s. I found this on the BBMF page.

Is nobody error checking this? All I did was paste the text into MS Word and look for the bits underlined in red, hardly computer genius stuff.
As for;
the thousands of men and women, in the air and on the ground, that gave their lives
I hope I am not alone in thinking that should be, who gave their lives.

Actually, to be even more pedantic, it should be “who gave their life”. Unlike cats, men and women only have one life each.
