I do find it interesting that some in Japan seem to jump on any chance to protest the US, especially in regards to Okinawa, and especially with the Osprey...but Japan have ordered the Osprey, and seemed just fine with opening the Fuji run MV-22 depot with much fanfare earlier this year. Yes I understand the politics.

Forgot who came up with the quote first, but something like "they would protest the Marines having a bake sale on Okinawa...."

All the best to the families involved in this case.

I would expect till initial review of deck camera footage and pilot interviews do not indicate a possible fleetwide problem.

Appears not to be an aircraft issue.

For some reason [OOPS I see it now (too hasty earlier) there is a spurious extra 'http://' at beginning of your URL] the URL above - when activated - leaves off the back slash so it needs to be added to work: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...-crash-440174/

Addition: Agree with 'Lonewolf 50' comment below - too early to tell cause and wait for preliminary accident report at least.

TheSultan: you appear to be leaping to a conclusion, since simply "hitting the ship" (unintentionally, obviously) doesn't rule out, nor does it confirm, the "why" be it aircraft, aircrew, something else - or various combinations of factors.
Doubtless the investigators are digging into that with some vigor.

Yes, too early to determine, curious the non mechanical direction is being suggested by an employee of the company that builds the aircraft in question.

Let the professionals sort it out.

What percentage of crashes at the flare end up being the actual aircraft? They have the video and the second pilot's testimony. With this information they returned the fleet to operations which they probably would not have done if they suspected an aircraft issue.

Sultan is pretty good at leaping to conclusions....as facts sure don't get in his way very often. When they do....they seem to trip him up with great regularity.

Must be the harmonics of it all perhaps.

Why do you feel the need to leap to a conclusion minus all the relevant facts required to do so?
