Iran is claiming to have closed the Strait of Hormuz.

That would appear to be a claim far exceeding their current naval and missile capability.

He was the Ayatollah, not the Pope.

Though I understand daughters are discouraged; Real Muslims are supposed to have sons.

What does it actually take to close the Strait to commercial traffic? One ship attacked by a fast patrol boat? The announcement has been made, how risk averse are the operators?

Celibacy seems a peculiarity specific to the Church of Rome.

Which is why Islam seems to run towards nepotism and so many claiming direct descent from the prophet - including the Khamenei family. A lineage, alas, which seems to have ended at the 38th generation….

Reports some vessels are already making alternative arrangements. The insurers will be the ones forcing decisions.

So it seems that this is the first good day in the Middle East since the CIA gave the northern alliance the stinger missiles.

can only get better.

And quite frankly, who cares how he died whether it was in the air or on the ground.

The owner of that strip of land drives a car with the number plate "1" and he would have taken it somewhat personally. Now that would have been really awkward.

There will be a retaliation. Iran won't know when or even what it was i.e. sometime things just happen.

Edit : just saw DXB got hit. I posted a few days ago that the mentality at play is that the action is more important than the consequence. That is unfortunately coming home to roost. The Iran regime will be hunted down for as long as it takes.

Why do they bother?

They don't recognise the UN or any international norm.

Just as a reminder, according to the NYT and after the last attack, the regime already had succession plans in place in case of a decapitation attack.

Just need to work out who is still alive……
