RAF Northolt - fit for purpose?
Seems that not everyone is content with Northolt operating as it currently does:
Queen's airfield is not safe for planes, secret MoD files show - Telegraph
There's some interesting things in there. There's apparently hundreds of buildings that intrude into take-off and landing safety zones (presumably the regulations have changed after the buildings were built? Or is it worse than that?)
There's the usual journalistic guff, for example, "confidential" got promoted to "secret" in the headline. Setting that kind of thing aside, does the article raise legitimate concerns?
It seems to be in the nature of large organisations to ignore the concerns of mere technical people and continue to run large corporate risks in the hope that nothing will ever go wrong. I don't see why MoD would be any different.

The safety of the travelling public, flight crews and local residents is at very serious risk,” said Will Curtis, managing director of rival Biggin Hill airport...

Done to death ad nauseum. It is down to the operator to decide whether to operate there within their AOC and SOPs.

Look who owns Biggin Hill and London Oxford.
