I appreciate the answer doesn't matter one iota, just settles my curiosity.
Nope, not even 50% of this number used in the BoB filming....which had 12 x flyable Spits and 3 x flyable Hurricanes.

One of the formations will at least be seen (wx permitting) at Northolt, So I guess I am heading there.

I assume as the RAF did the Flypast on July 10th that they are doing no further BoB flypasts over London?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to establish which of these aircraft is in private ownership as against belonging to museum collections or restoration societies?

Thanks.

So is it on or has WX delayed again?
Saw a Spit in FR24 20 mins ago heading SW. Went over near the airfield and continued towards the ocean then went off screen :-(

Appreciate all that has gone into this and the operational constraints however it is SUCH a pity that at least one could not have flown over Birmingham even on the 15 approach to BHX which takes you directly over what was the Castle Bromwich Factory (now Jaguar of course)

The last time that happened was 1998 (I think?) Ray Hanna came over when the Spitfire island sculpture was unveiled outside the factory! Alex Henshaw was with us that day too! He would have enjoyed today! RIP both of you I trust you as watching from up there somewhere!

Outside his office at Castle Bromwich with the big fella!!

Saw two route up by us aprox an hour ago, which would have been on route for one of the sections. Mrs Bunny has just reported that six flew past (near the old met office & staff college) heading southish.

I'm sure I saw a Mustang in with the others. What relevance does the Mustang have in relation to a Battle that took place 2 yrs before it was introduced?

Expensive Disappointment

According to the local rag, one formation was due to fly along the front at Bournemouth and then down to Weymouth and Exeter. That was delayed for two hours so I had to take Mrs p for an expensive lunch. Two hours later we mustered again, along with many others, All we saw was one Spitfire passing behind us.

On Sep 15, 1940 the Germans were surprised that there were more fighters ranged against them than they expected. Today it was a kind of reverse. Today, there were a lot less than we expected.

Here in Redhill I saw three heading along the north downs heading east. I had a ticket for Goodwood but at the last minute I couldn't go due to a pressing family matter.

Believe it may have been HRH Prince Harry in the back of the Mustang. One of the T9s went tech and he gave up his seat in the two-seat Spit to allow a veteran to fly. Good man.

Am guessing they wheeled out the Mustang to get him flying. Certainly looked like him in the back (bonedome on). It was the final departure, just after the last of the BoB fighters.

Saw a three ship vic followed by a pair fly over Swindon today. Drew my thoughts to all those who gave so much for the great country we have enjoyed until recently. It also drew my mind to our mate Nutloose, who I hope is now comfortable and recovering well, post op. As the Spits, Hurri's and the Hampden flew today it should have reminded all Britons of the sacrifice made back then. And why we should not throw it all away. Hope Nutty is back on line soon, someone always worth reading when he comments.
