Expensive Disappointment
According to the local rag, one formation was due to fly along the front at Bournemouth and then down to Weymouth and Exeter. That was delayed for two hours so I had to take Mrs p for an expensive lunch. Two hours later we mustered again, along with many others, All we saw was one Spitfire passing behind us.
On Sep 15, 1940 the Germans were surprised that there were more fighters ranged against them than they expected. Today it was a kind of reverse. Today, there were a lot less than we expected.
