1974 Fincastle Request

I,ve had a request from a modeller mate who is doing a model of Nimrod MR1 XV262 to represent it winning Fincastle in 1974.

He wants to know if the artwork on the fin was applied on both sides, anyone got any images of the jet or can help in anyway.

TIA

There'sd a poster.....

.....called Fincastle74 who would be delighted to tell you in detail everything you want to know(and more). Send him a PM.

The Ancient Mariner

Wot the officer really meant was a "poster called Fincastle 84" who won it 10 years after the original poster's requested date (and yes he will give you all the details)

There was a very good video produced of the competition in 1974 in NZ with a stunning introduction and good mood music.

Nimman got it right however. Ta.

So, port side only when actually winning the competition, and both sides after returning to the UK.
Xtradecal sheet X72080 therefore caters for both options, though the instructions state it wasn't known if the design was applied on on both sides.
Good to know - I have the Airfix kit, assorted resin and photo-etch bits, and these markings in the stash.
