I don't understand how the inability to 'pull a loop' is an absolute show stopper, or how being slow means you get behind someone, or how getting someone to fall on top of you is too clever!

Why did Iran go for the F14 over the F15?

The F-15 was never offered. And the politics was:
The Iranian deal is credited with saving the F-14 program, which Congress had stopped funding, and by some with saving the Grumman Corporation from bankruptcy.

I think you need to re-read what was written. Nowhere was it said that getting someone to fall on top of you is clever.

I’m going to have to take issue with your statement that “the MiG at less than 100 knots has sufficient pitch authority to raise the nose at enemy”. Sorry but that is a vast overstatement.
Bevo, would be interesting to know what exactly your experience of the Fishbed C/E is, but that was the view of the guys who flew the MiG-21F-13s for the Red Eagles - demonstrating nose authority <100 knots was part of the PP, IIRC. It sounds like you might have been a HAVE IDEA guy. Were you?

No Ewan it didn't but it was written by an aggressor who had knowingly run his opponent out of energy, pulled up into him and seemed to express surprise when he came back the other way.
