We are very poor about celebrating and acknowledging those to whom we owe our freedoms. Always have been, witness the plight of those same people following the Napoleonic Wars. 65 years after the event we finally produce a Memorial to those colleagues of Stan who gave their lives for us. It will probably take another 65 years again for us to finally decide that what they did was both necessary and worthwhile. That is all a comment about us and not about them.
RIP and thank you, Stan Franks.

I am currently sitting in my Spare room/Study wondering where the source of all this sand is coming from which has now found its way into both my eyes...
Well done on surviving and doing the necessary Stan, and BZ to the RAFA for seeing him on his way with dignity
