Name of SF symbol on Wessex
I have seen painted this SF symbol (looks like some sort of dagger) on a few Helicopters (and I think on the Jolly Roger flag on the Sub that came back from the Falklands) to designate a landing of SF troops. I have two questions.
1. What is the name of it, if any ?
2. Does anyone know the history of it and when it was first used.
Thanks

Try this for size The Jolly Roger and the Submarine Service. - malta at war museum which explains the full background, complete with a photograph of CONQUEROR's Jolly Roger as flown on her return from the Falklands - and a dagger to boot!

Mine too, but i couldn't spell it
Could it be trying to represent a Sabre, as in Sabre squadron ? Only a thought but I know that the standard fencing sabre is nothing like that, many people's imagination goes to a weapon used for slashing and cutting, also the SAS (sabre squadron) nuance. Just a thought chaps, be gentle
