Not strictly aircrew or military, but since it is possibly the broadsheet of choice for the majority here, I have just received this email from them:
From today, the Telegraph's award-winning website will be changing to metered access. What this means is that visitors to the website will be able to read up to 20 articles per month free. If they wish to view more, they will be asked to subscribe for a modest charge.
The good news for you, as a subscriber to the newspaper, is that unlimited access to the website now becomes part of your package at no extra cost.
If you are OOA and had enjoyed accessing their website well . . .

I got this email a couple of months ago. Interesting, because when I was out of the UK I would sometimes get a message saying I'd reached the maximum 20 articles and needed to subscribe. Then, if I logged in from a different location, it would start again at '0' until I got to 20.
When I was in the Uk that never happened.
Then out of UK it would happen again, so I tried to subscribe and it wouldn't accept my credit card because it wouldn't accept a UK billing address for a UK credit card when my IP showed that I was in a different country. The option to change country was fixed for the country I was in at that time (Poland).
In order to be able to continue reading, I found a sneaky and dishonest way of temporarily bypassing the '20 articles' rule, as at that point there was no other choice.
Since then, I've never run up against the problem so I wondered if they'd abandoned the idea. Their site won't let me subscribe until I'm actually in the UK, apparently ......... so ...! Oddly enough, I'm quite happy to pay for access, but it won't let me.

I didn't have to go as far as the UK.
I went from Joburg to Durban to my sons place and logged on with his PC and had the problem for 3 weeks.
That was in February/March.
Back in Joburg using my PC and no problems or warning messages, so far.

Either when online or subscribe. Subscribers to get some extra perks too. Quite a lot if you live in a civilised area. Not much elsewhere. Just found I can get half price airport lounges which is good value.

If you want to remove cookies from an iPad
iPad: Settings -> Safari -> Clear Cookies and Data
The process is much the same for a Web Browser on a PC (Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer) but you can control individual cookies. Google for answers.

I have finally managed to subscribe. The drop down menu doesn't have an option for a UK address presumably because they assume that if you are in UK you won't subscribe. Do they know people travel? I assumed, wrongly, that it would check my UK credit card billing address against the address I entered, but it didn't. I think it's in their favour that they publish a geographic number to call in case of problems rather than an expensive 0844/5 or 0870/1.

Hmmm..well I can confirm that for those of us resident in the USA the Telegraph doesn't seem to want to take our increasingly worthless dosh. Have never been asked to subscribe (though I probably would).
While my personal politics trend a very small bit more to the left of the Telegraph I do like the paper and when back in the UK recently I probably purchased it more than the other so-called quality rags.
Besides it's always fun keeping up with what the husbands of the women who read the Daily Mail think about life...

if its the politics you like read the Daily Mail instead, although it is crap for sport it does have a bizzarely large selection of females flashing boobs and bums on their web site

Having registered and paid, I find it still blanks me out after reading 20 articles, and I have to sign in again. Anyone else having the same problem? (I have ticked the 'remember me' box.)
It's just a minor irritation (probably what Max Clifford is saying now .... I was about to read the article about him ....)

I'm in Umhlanga again at my sons place, using an IPad with his router.
