Exclamation Royal Navy Magic Show

On the back of the USA announcing its defence cuts the UK has been more creative in our solution! We have decided to train the Navy in magic to solve some of our burdens.

They have been taught how to make carriers appear from nowhere;
How to make Harriers disappear;
And how to retrain the CHF and rerole Merlin using nothing other than magic beans.

Or the reality - carriers are a long way off, the JSF even further away and no
£££ to move the Merlin Force!

Perhaps the Navy should stick to boats and let the RAF do the flying.

If the RAF re-introduced Marine Craft then the RAF Regt could also carry out costal protection. Hey Presto UK defence via a 2 service concept. Royal Caribbean could then be hired for any long distance jobs.

How long did the Nimrod saga go on for, shall we forget the Chinnok Mk3 upgrade downgrade, Puma 2 is going in the same direction. Cannot be many platforms left to bin?. May be the RAF should stick to what they do best, i'm not saying that's aviation and let the others do the work.

Excuse the bite....

The RAF (irrespective of what aircraft their given) still manage to deliver a usable product, a useful service to the brave boots on the ground. The navy go on cruises to the Med or Caribbean.

A real magic trick would be for the UK MOD to actually deliver something to time, cost and quality by not changing their mind part way through a project. Thats a £38M trick to the taxpayer but sadly one not likely to be seen live for a while yet but one that most people would like to see

Have I misread the thread or did Graf set the trap in post 1 and also fall for it in post 5?

There's a small chance she has already done so in the four and a half years available since the story was published.

I've heard of the five second rule for banter - didn't realise it had grown to five years.

The i-pod bit will always be funny of course. In fact I'm struggling to type...

Are all those emoticons replacing the 'Are' at the beginning of what could still be made into a sentence, the comma between the two reallys, the question mark where you have a comma, the 'It' after the missing question mark and the full stop at the end?

You use ten emoticons, I can only count six mistakes (if you count the question mark for comma substitution as two). Or had you intended to miss the capital letters off Are and It which would bring you to eight in draft two?

For an eight word 'not actually a sentence' six errors is an amazing effort. I'm not even angry, I'm impressed. I was going to learn 'challenged' prior to leaving the mob, can you PM me a good place for classes?

Give me six over eight as a percentage and I'll let you off.

Come along old chap. Last time we locked horns it was because you had misspelt Biggin (as in Biggin Hill) which was in itself impressive as despite being a six letter word, two of them are repeated - bringing the total to get right to four.

Then again, if pretending to have gone fishing when someone picks up your mistakes entertains you then you'll have an amazingly rewarding retirement. The only obvious issue is that no-one will spot Alzheimer's when it sets in.
