Scout Antenna
I flew the Scout for about 3 years up to 1977, and never saw one with a radalt. Am pretty sure that's a UHF antenna.
For the first year or so of my time on the Scout, there was also a retractable aerial for the Larkspur (??) VHF FM radio, which could extend to be vertically below the heli. Easy to forget when landing and cost a case of beer to replace!!

Below the Glidepath - not correcting
Spotter alert - It's the upper UHF antenna used with the PTR 170 radio (at that time), it also had a matching antenna on the lower tail boom.

The PTR-170 was a pre-set 12 channel radio, and each frequency was a physical crystal which the Pinkies had to physically insert- physically. I remember a large wooden box full of the things.

Made by Plessey and fitted to many UAS Chipmunks, with one antenna on the upper rear left fuselage and the other on the lower. The controller was on the front-cockpit upper coaming.
This style of antenna was used with other UHF radio installations, notably the ARC-52 in some 4 FTS Gnats and Hunters and several marks of Canberra.
ANORAK MODE=OFF
