Lebanese to get Hawks?
Its been reported in the London based Al-Hayat that the UK Government has given approval for the supply of BAe Hawks to the Lebanese Air Force.
They do not say if they will be new aircraft, or surplus RAF aircraft.

I'd be interested to know if this order is for second hand two seaters as suggested above, or new single seat Hawk 200s (or a mix of the two types). Always had a soft spot for the Hawk 200, If they had been bought for the RAF for home AD (in addition to the Phoon) then we'd hahve a lot more sqns in service today given their lower costs to buy/run. More than adequate fo intercepting a hijacked airliner or a 1950s vintage Russian bomber...
Are you sure, Russ?
Given the speed differential (or relative lack of it) between a 'Bear' thundering along at full chat or a Gulfstream IV or an A340, or whatever, the intercept geometries can get problematic if your fighter is as firmly subsonic as the Hawk, can't they?
