F4 Phantom Picture
Wow
My respect for the nerves of navigators continues to increase. I think the pilot is lucky there is not a seat rapidly exiting behind him, as the vote of confidence gets the thumbs down.
And isn't Hoskins going early on the round out, and discovering why that doesn't work ? It does have all the hallmarks of an imminent "sudden but not entirely unexpected TWANG" as Roger Bacon also used to suggest occasionally.
Bit like some of my landings.

Sorry to bump an old thread chaps but I've been searching for a while now of a low level shot of a Phantom between 2 hangers? It's for my Dad who served 4 years as a Rigger on them from 1968-1972. Any help as always is very much appreciated.

I seem to remember there was a couple of French aircraft, prob Mirages, that hit the wooden fence on the approach to 20 at Waddington, prior to the airshow in either 2006 or 2007. There were always plenty of photographers (spotters) so would be nice to see any photos, especially as the threshold is a long way from the fence!

@ post 25, I worked on Phantoms at St Athan for a few years & I can assure you that photo was not at all unusual. I remember once seeing a seagull rotating rapidly in the air between the hangers, in the vortex after the Phantom had passed between them!
