Lightning Lost In South Africa

Sky is reporting the loss of an EE Lightning near to Overberg Air Base this afternoon. report states a civilian pilot died in crash. The aircraft is believed to be part of the Thunder City organisation which has done such valiant work in putting these and other classic warbirds back in the air.

I appreciate that the aircraft is not a current type but I know many watchers of this thread had close associations with this type of aircraft in the past and may well have known the pilot.

I am sure we all send out sincere condolances to the pilots relatives and those close to him.

RIP
