BBC NEWS | South Asia | Afghan mid-air crash kills four

My thoughts are with the family and friends of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and wish a speedy recovery to those wounded.

In the link 'anotherthing' provided, it says this at the end

This year has seen the highest death toll of international troops in Afghanistan since the Taliban were overthrown in 2001.

I feel that if the Taliban had actually been overthrown, then I would not be almost constantly be reading of further sad deaths like these.

Sad news indeed, and my thoughts go out to all the families involved here. RIP to those who gave their lives to ensure all our freedom.

The Times quote is simply:

2009 has been the deadliest year for international forces since the 2001 invasion. The death toll was highest around the presidential vote in August, when 51 US soldiers died.
