Talking OCU Pics

Have just a great hour going through a book I forgot I had which copies all the old 228 OCU (F-4) course photos, some history and a few quips from the line book.. .. .Phil W: "Hows life on the Tornado F3". .Paul L: "It's horrendous". .Gil S: "Good to hear it's improving". .. .What an entertaining hour, talk about some monster rogues and sadly numerous departed friends.. .. .Does such a beast exist for any other OCUs or was this a one off? It really is a classic.. .. .It was produced by BAE - some would no doubt say the best thing they have ever done - circa 1992.. .. .Hmm, I guess even BEagle must be in there somewhere!

The Lightning book was put together by an F4 Nav and he did a really good job. Same layout as the F4 OCU book and quotes from various line books - "No wonder I was sick, my stomach was full of puke."

Probably out of print, but ring Simon Watson at the Aviation Bookshop on 0207-272-3630. Good luck!

Dug it out again.. .. .The Phantom book was published by:. .. .Holmes McDougall Ltd. .Allander House. .137-141 Leith Walk. .Edinburgh. .EH6 8NS. .. .on paper supplied by the paper mill at Guardbridge no less!. .. .Credit ought to be given really to Gordon Moulds who compiled it.. .. .Looks like it was sponsored by BAES with proceeds to the RAFBF. Remarkable number of faces now work for the same company - we know who you are!. .. .Another line:. .. .QWI discussing merits of ACT: " Mike B*tt*ll's 6 o'clock is NOTAM'ed as an area of intense air activity.". .. .And he was the boss!. .. .Love it.
