RAF Wilkinson Sword Wanted

Sorry this is not strictly about flying but I am trying to buy an RAF Officers, Wilkinson Sword - QE II vintage. Does anyone know where I might get hold of one or anyone have one for sale?

They used to pop up on eBay but since they stopped trading such items I'm at a loss.

Many thanks.

I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could

Wilkinsons?
Fraid not old chap.

Stopped producing them 4 years ago.. You might be able to pick up a genuine wilky from an antique shop; last time I checked, Sussex swords had some in stock.

Alternatively, you can pick up a german made one from the solingen plant (£534 just dont tell your grandad), or, if you have deep pockets, a thieves and hawkes on at a paltry £1200.

WKC Solingen military swords, ceremonial dress swords and uniform accessories ? online shop sales of made in Germany swords and sabers.

Thanks VR.

I'm actually after an original Wilkinson so it will have to be a pre-owned one, hopefully for a bit less than Sussex Swords are asking.

Have a chat with Tennents to see if they can look out for one for you. They had a few Navy ones in a sale last month.

Actually I have a Soligen one; I got it from my Grandad. Not sure where he got it from but it could have been a Turk as I have two Turkish ones too.

The Soligen one is not in a parade state but the blade! You can bend the blade through 90 degrees and after 90 years not a spot of rust.

Dare I say it but if you're just after a sword of your own, Snaiths sell them from circa £500 ish. If you need one on a timescale that might be your best option. Try Cranwell. Good luck, beats paying Serco £30 a go to hire something they don't own and that are in a pretty shoddy state. That said, go to a wedding, have someone else hire them and get the best man smashed so he thinks he lost one.........

Thank you

Thank you for your replies.

I did some research before posting so was aware of the Pooleys thing etc. I can get a Wilkinson for £1250 from Sussex Swords but that seems excessive to me so will keep trying elsewhere.

Ask me to justify spending so much on a sword I'll perhaps use only once or twice and I can't, but there you are - why buy an IWC when a Swatch would do etc..

In the meantime, if anyone knows of someone who wants to flog one I'd be grateful for the info...

Happy Pruning.

Apple,

If you still haven't got your sword by 9-10th Sept, let me know.

At a local 'Antique Fair' which is held the 2nd Sunday of the month, I saw one a couple of months ago.

I'm afraid I didn't take note of either it's age or price, but I can go and see the dealer on the 13th Sept if required.

Cheers

£1250 is not too long a set of odds - wilkinsons swords were about that price, depending on any engraving you wanted on the blade, bag, display stand etc etc.

Apple,

I have one for sale - I have emailed you direct. Ebay do not now list swords (even ceremonial) as someone may use the blunt edge to threaten a defenceless victim with a nasty friction burn.

RAF Wilkinson Swords For Sale

Hi, there is a small boxed advert in the Militaria section of Gunmart magazine, for Jemswords, which says he has RAF Wilkinson swords for sale. Also yu can see pictures of the swords on American Ebay, in the Militaria section.
