I think they were Mirages

Sorry to dampen the enthusiasm for Jags, but on the afternoon of the same day, two Mirage F1's passed from the northwest over my house, seven miles east of Wymondham. I thought they were 'Fins' at first, then Jaguars, but as they passed over the top I could see they were single engined. Same configuration as the Jag's, with twin tanks, but definately F1's.

Nice to see that the spotty one is going to have loads of extra black foot prints on it. That scheme is automotive paint and won't take any abuse..

What with a Jaguar seen last week and a Victor flying at Bruntinghtorpe yesterday (albeit briefly), maybe the RAF is finding a pragmatic workaround for the next round of defence cuts?

There is a possibility I may have mistook an F1 as a Jaguar as I was driving but I'm 95% certain it was a Jaguar. I got to see a side view and briefly from the back and I'm fairly sure I saw the distinctive hump and two engines...

Can't guarantee it tho...

Well no Jags flying in UK or France, unless it was a very strong crosswind and a fast taxy.

It definitely wasn't a Jag.

It was a Volvo: Serco speed camera boss caught speeding - mirror.co.uk

Newt,

1850. If you want to tighten a screw use a wingnut!

Failing that apply smoke, as in "go", people who cut your hair und eine Flugplatz. No need to PM - address has not changed but handle has.

How's the fishing?

Lightning MateHey NutLoose,

Oops definitely an Alcohol induced typo........

1850 Hrs on Jags???? just think, if you'd got on fast Jets you would have been able to get there in 1/2 the hours.

Myself........ ohh a grand total of about 2 hours which equates to 1 hour on proper fast jets oh and a few years on a couple of Jag Sqns if that satisfies your prepubescent urge to rub yourself up against someone.

The spec for the Jag was back in the 60s. It was ordered as an advanced trainer. It was a nuclear bomber in the early 70s. It had a propensity for navigating into high ground in the 70s and by the arly 80s I thought it was obsolecent.

Not bad for an aircraft that then went on to serve for a further 25 years.

So, in 1916 we introduced the Jaguar. We eventually retired it in 1950. For jaguar, read SE5. Not bad eh!

Hello again NutLoose.

"1850 Hrs on Jags???? just think, if you'd got on fast Jets you would have been able to get there in 1/2 the hours."

Does my handle not suggest time on a really fast jet?

Just out of curiosity, on which Jaguar squadrons did you serve?

All the best,
LM
