I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could
27 June
Wonder how much support the charity will actually get?
Our market sells them at £5.
What I need now is to start collecting flag poles

I thought the half flag was to reflect the state of the Nation, Brown having sold off the other half to fund some quango or possibly it reflects the current indigenous British population percentage in the overall UK Census.

Could be a lot to do with the half-ar*ed attempt at respect for the forces, that this current crop of fools at Westminster have been ordered to show by the one that hails from North of Hadrian's Wall, who is also optically and mentally challenged !!!!
PS - yes I am still currently serving and no I don't think many councils will partake in the raising of this flag "for fear of upsetting other cultures!!!"- most of them can't even bring themselves to raise the Flag of St George on April 23rd !! - whaddy ya think fellas (and lasses)?

Thats my point exactly, flying the genuine article rather than this defaced (Thanks Pontious) version may be construed as racial hatred

I shall be flying the Union Flag on June 27th on the 8 metre flagpole that I have just received, and has been erected at Castle Foldie, to celebrate my 60 years on this green and pleasant land (well 18 of them North of Hadrian's wall before taking HMQ's bob!).
Foldie
PS. Mrs Foldie, having checked the rules before purchasing aforementioned pole, would tell you that anybody who flies a doctored or defaced flag faces prosecution for breaching planning regulations - the only flags permitted are national flags (of any nation) on a flagpole; any advertising flags (Armed Forces Day falls into that category) must have planning permission. But then Gordie wouldn't bother to check that out, would he?

Thanks, R.O.G, already done it regularly, mate, and received my first objection from some bog dweller who complained anonymously on the council's 'planning website' but was told by them to get back in his hole! The flag of the Stuart Royal Family was flown on the 16th inst in memory of those Jacobites who fell at Culloden (263rd anniversary) but the Saltire flies almost daily currently.
Rule Britannia (apart from on 23rd of June 2009 which is the 695th Anniversary of Bannockburn - Lest We Forget!)

Amazing - the Jocks moan that we English never shut up about the '66 World cup and then continually go on about ONE battle 700 years ago!
And I wonder how long a cross of St George would last on a flagpole in Morayshire...and the action would be far more ill-mannered than a complaint to the council...
Still, I got my own back on the Scots - I married one!

What a tacky bloody mess! Yes, DEFACED is the word. My £10 will not be winging their way - it's going to Help for Heroes where it'll do more good.
Good for you, Foldie; I hope Mrs Foldie will pipe The Still while you raise or lower your Union Flag. In Denmark many people are proud to fly the Dannebrog (national flag) in their gardens; I don't know about other cultures being offended but the Danes seem to be fairly robust about that sort of thing - if you come to live here, you accept what we do, etc., etc..
I wish...

Does it matter what the flag looks like? Its what it means and the spirit thats behind it thats important.
And as for HfH - a very worthy cause but lets spare a thought for the other causes out there too. £1 from each flag will be going to this unsung, but very worthy bunch.

Red Line Entry,
Light banter, old boy, as R.O.G. happens to be a Sassie living north of the border!
And I married 2 English ones, but not at the same time you understand!

Jesus, you lot are hard to please sometimes.
It may not be the best design going, but if the county is adorned with these flags on 27 Jun, then I for one think they will have played some part in bringing our forces to the fore and remembering their sacrifice.
You never know, they might even highlight some unity within a few of the more diverse areas of our nation?
Regards,
