In amongst the Civvy ATPL world, damned tough at the moment, still work about but dodgy at the Biz Jet end.
The Big Boys are interested in hours and ratings, very few seats for unrated ATPL's
Wouldn't waste money on 3rd party agencies for CV's and Intro's
Good Luck - what are you current on?

Some free advice
As a former member of the RAF and current pilot manager and recruiter for a major Asia-Pacific carrier, I would have to agree. Unless you have to leave at the moment, now is not a good time. As already stated, hours and ratings are the most important thing to get your foot in the door followed by preparation for the selection process. If you want any more advice please feel free to PM me. Good luck, whatever you decide.

Decision making process
Definitely it is not and easy decision especially nowadays!
But in my opinion (and if I'm able to find a one) it's better to find an Airline, build seniority and flight hours rather then continue to straggle in a job with a flying desck future and dedicate your free time preparing for an Airline interview!
Average Airline FH/Y 700h, Military FH/Y 400 (if you are lucky)

I wouldn't waste your money on an agency. There are plenty of good CVs around to get some ideas. I spent a whole MPA det refining mine and it worked very well. PM me with your real e-mail address if you want some advice.

Assuming that you are in the British military it would pay you to talk to your local RAF flying club.
The members are usualy a mix of servicemen (mostly), ex-servicmen (now in the airline business) and a few civilians (mostly instructors) who know the airline buisiness.
Between them they usualy have the inside track on the goings on in the civil aviation world.

If it helps, don't bother applying to Ryanair: direct entry Captains have to have a 737NG type rating and good time on the NG and FO postitions are only open to cadets.
Anyone else from another airline got helpful info?
