Rolling Twlight Lightning run Sat 7th Feb

Hi all

A map for you, just incase you havent been before Lightning Preservation Group Location Maps for Bruntingthorpe Airfield

Gates open at 2pm, there are some tickets left if anyone fancies a late decsion to come, these will be with the lads checking tickets on the drive down to the Q shed
As you come though the main gate, you will be directed right, which takes you down towards the main runway, the Q shed is situated about 200 yards on your right, all the visitors cars will be parked on the peri track opposite the Q shed in lines.
Come in and have a good look around, chat to whoever you want, we are a friendly bunch of Lightning nutters
At around 4pm, there will be a little briefing of what the plans are, so all will congregate around one of the areos for a little group chat
We will tow the 'runner' up to the top of the runway (the Glimorton end) followed by all the visitors.
Everyone will park up and make their way to the crowd line.
We will get the 'jockey' in and fire the lady up, this should be around 5pm as the light is fading (weather depending of course), she will taxy round, check brakes etc and line up, we will then chock her again, Keith will then apply the No2 burner and then the No1 (or vise versa) separately, depending on how he feels to just check all is ok.
Then chocks out and Keith will ease the 'go handles' up to max and realese the brakes, she will be about 5 seconds into her roll when both burners are engaged, and she will then go steaming over the hill, chute deployed (I hope )
We then plan to follow her in the van to collect the chute and see her back to the peri track and shut her down at the bottom end of the runway, while we are pushing her back onto the Q shed apron along side the other one and firing up the geni for the flood lights all the visitors will be making their way back down the peri track to park where they parked when they came in, and then everone is welcome to take piccies and chat to us all
Souvenirs and refreshments will be available
Sound ok ?
Both aircraft were pushed back inside yesterday over the bottom track slots using some serious steel plates, (the concrete has yet to be poured, weather isnt helping) then uncovered and given a good cleaning ready for next Saturday

Cheers

Hi all,

Its due to thraw abit, and the forecast for tomorrow is for a sunny but cold day with + 1 temps
To all who plan to join us tommorrow I have pleasure in telling you we are going for it

But............

If the runway is still covered in snow and ice, it will be a static reheat run like the last one at the bottom (the Q shed end) of the runway, as the peri track is snowed up and towing the areo up to the top with cars following wont be possible.
Dave Walton is going to sweep the bottom end with the big sweeper for us.
But that said, if its all gone then a fast run might be on the cards we just gotta 'play it by ear' during the day.
Everyone will have the Chris Norris 'briefing' as per last time on the apron infornt of the hangar before we 'go'
Everything else still stands, gates open 2pm park up where you did last time, on the peri track opposite the shed.
Come and wander round and enjoy the afternoon, its gonna look good if theres snow lying around, oh get plenlty of clothes on and remember ear defenders

See ya Tommorrow
