Cookies - where have they gone

Just logged into the site and the screen has reverted to a very basic mode. What's happened? Could it be these 'cookies' we all talk about? It just seems to be happening to this site. Has it been re-written using some other software?

It's been a bit of a problem since Friday, but if you clear your cache and cookies, (run CCleaner if you have it), then return to the site all will be fixed!

Some changes have been made that have affected a few people, perhaps quite a lot! Sadly it was done without letting most people know - including some of the mods.

The url to use now is www.pprune.org not as before org/forums.

Also, if some style and colour is missing the 'trick' is to use Ctrl + F5 together and this will refresh the pages for you. It has worked well for many so far.

Another tip might be to empty your cache/ temp files and cookies. The latter reset themselves but its a personal choice.

Onward and upward! Hope it helps anyway.

Well at least the question is now answered. I observed the lack of form directly after the computer told me that I had been automatically "updated". I was cursing Microsoft.

By the way I suspect that the "cookies"* were all done away with after the cessation of hostilities in 1945.

Blockbuster or cookie was the name given to several of the largest conventional bombs used in World War II by the Royal Air Force (RAF). The term Blockbuster was originally a name coined by the press and referred to a bomb which had enough explosive power to destroy an entire city block.
