WSOp - Seeking some info.
Im currently in talks with my local RAF career's office, and i seem to be bound on joining as WSOp Aircrew.
Ive heard lots of different stories about what the job fully entails, Ive read the material the careers office have given to me, and watched the dvd thouroughly. However what im actually looking for is some people who have worked in this field / know what this field of work entails.
I currently have 12 GCSE's A-C, im 18 year's old... but... I have recently had an operation on my wrist (having broken it) Whereby i have had to have a plate inserted. I have filled in my medical form on this and its being sent to cranwell to be looked into, any idea's on the hinderance that this my bring on my available options?
Any other information and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

And discussing what jobs are currently available to me and what road im going to take depends on, relies on me talking with my local RAF carrer's office. So do us all a favour and save your sexual references for your own ammusment. Fool.

You're well qualified (but I'd get some A-levels if I were you), and you're organised with the medics. You've done everything you can so far. Good luck mate. Oh yes, and ignore all postings by the bloke who's name reflects his brain's weight.

I can't really comment on the wrist repair - I'm not a doctor. Wait until Cranners get back to you with their decision. Dan, on the wrist repair the issue is as much one for you as the OASC Docs.
How do you feel about it? Are you consciously or unconsciously favouring it? How are you with press-ups, pull-up, lifting, twisting etc?
If your Docs have not placed any limits on your mobilty and you are confident that the repaired wrist is the equal of the unnjured wrist then there should be no problem.
If, OTOH, there is any limitation the OASC Docs just might see you as a high medical risk.
Only the Docs can decide but it will be one of confidence and risk. Good luck.

Mostly agree with "PN" it depends on the manoeuvrability of your wrist and the strength good ways are as stated "press-ups, pull-ups, lifting, twisting".
P.S. Don't mind 1.4G, I still haven't figured him out yet..

I can still bench 60kg comfortably doing sets ( not the biggest of lads ) and press-ups and chin ups are fine, i was applying for the army, and passed thier tests easily enough. It feels fine, guess the rest is down to RAF Cranwell. Keep posting info of you can add anything to whats already been said.

Ah, but remember it was 1.4G to whom he was referring. Would 1.4G blow his cover to confront DW? DW would make a good Intel Officer

Avoid the Nimrod MR2 & Kinloss until the MRA4 is in!!!!!
Be very sure that WSOp is actually what you want as opposed to "second choice" 'cos you did not get pilot or whatever!

I should have asked before, why WSOp? With those GCSEs, as Charlie Golf said, why no A-levels?
Without A-levels you are limiting yourself.
Are you being seduced by the £33k for a WSOp and not the £28k for an officer?
You should get those 2 A-levels.
