Victory Services Club has big redevopment plans and an appeal to fund them underway. Until then, the basic rooms are a bit grim with old-style barrack block ablutions down the corridor. The Memorial Wing rooms have en-suite facilities, are a bit more modern, but tend to be noisy as they overlook Edgware Road.
As for the reception at the RAF Club, I was in there 15 days ago and there was a stunning Aussie bird working there. Damn efficient too!

Stayed there several times - with family and without.
I found that:
If you dont like city noise - close the windows.
If you smoke - dont!
If you are hot - open the windows.
If the corridor doors slams - Turn over.
If the toilet vents scream like a banshee - close the door.
If the Wife snores like a Banshee.....!
Its just like any other place (or even some hotels) in the world.
...but a little cheaper - for London.
