Meanwhile, I hear a rumour that the ageing Vickers FunBus may have to soldier on even longer - perhaps to 2020.

Someone tell me this isn't true......

Surely that would be 'keep AN aging Vickers Funbus flying to 2020? The fleet must only have a half-life of about 3 years after scrapping and robbing to keep others airborne. So, yes, kill half the fleet every 3 years and you could arguably still have one left in 2020.
