Smile London Area LARS

Fellow Pruners,

I stumbled across this new service yesterday. In what can be a busy section of airspace it plugs a previous gap and I found it very useful Unfortunately I don't think that it has been very well published amongst mil guys... thus,

hope it works as well for you,

Mainly NATS has told the GA about this as the main idea is to stop GA infringing the TMA, something that the military tend not to do; however, it would be useful for a lot of the mil rotary traffic that floats around down in those parts

One of the (minor) triggers for this was the number of military helicopters expecting to get LARS from Thames Radar; if you're not inbound to Biggin or Lon City, and not intending to transit the City CTA/CTR, do NOT call Thames, they'll be too busy with their primary task.
By the way, NOTAMs were issued way back in early september (B1635 and B1586) and military units should have had access to these; if not then your Ops/ATC have slipped up.
