QRA tanker up...

Heading north @ 5am today.

Wow! They actually have a QRA tanker? Things sure have changed since the 90s...

It went out at around 3'ish and came back 8:30'ish.
bit of a normal affair now though isn't it?

Pray tell....how do I distinguish between a 'QRA' tanker and a 'normal' one?

Tonka QRA 1 went up at leuchars at 3.40am, followed by QRA2 at 4.20 am, both arrived back at 7.30 am

2 x Tu-160 intercepted 70nm NW of Bardufoss by RNoAF F-16s this morning, according to media. (Their source CAOC3) The aircraft followed the Russians for 45 minutes before RTB.

Of course we had QRA tankers. When I was on tankers in the 70s it was called Operation Dragonfly (and it was a lot of fun).

Does anything else go up to play? E-3D or the like now that we don't have radars looking that far north?
