In the great British tradition of geeky excellence, ARRSE is temporarily up the creek in arguably its finest hour.

Rivetting viewing, MVDC rule, OK? Take a bow blue team! I don't think that result would have happened without the furore raised here and at Arrse. Well done everyone, full steam ahead SSAFA, you're home and dry!

Seventeen votes in favour nil against.

Thank you to the blue team and the one has to say the planning director who effectively changed the councils position from no to yes.

The change of direction to permanent use until SSAFA sells is a master stroke, as no one can use its change as a precedent for any other development.

SSAFA now time to get on with the job.

I dekitted today and felt a tinge of sadness at passing out of active military service but feel immensely proud of the wider military community of which in my heart I shall always belong for coming together for this 'op' and also to those in the civilian community who supported this cause.

Well done everyone.

Absolutely FANTASTIC.

Well done to everybody who got involved in this and especially those who made the trip this evening.

Seeing everyone, regardless of service, pulling together like this is real triumph of people power over parochial selfishness. I hope some of those objectors go home and reflect on how dreadful their behaviour has been.

Well done team.

The supporting councillors were quite right - they decided on planning grounds and I was amazed that the officers consented to bend policies to reflect local objections. The ENV22 policy originally used to go along with the objections lagely supported the application.

I can't believe I've just spent nearly 2 hours watching a planning meeting in a Town in Surrey I'd never heard of 2 weeks ago as if I was at Murrayfield watching Scotland win a Grand Slam!

Outsider's observation:

Well done to you for the grassroots organizing and cooperation to get what should have been a no-brainer project back on track.

So, from the US,

If anyone is interested, the council are back in.....hmmmm, I didn't think so...
Made me laugh more than most stuff recently.

MVDC presumably now have the record for the most watched live webcam council meeting, their 15 mins of fame as someone once said.

Great news!

The posts were well received and appreciated by one that couldn't get the bloody webcast to run. Sounds like I missed an epic.

Congrats to all involved, a fantastic result

You had to feel for the poor bu88er who was the local councillor for Grays Lane: Object or don't get elected next time.

With so much emotion involved this campaign could easily have got out of control. It is to the credit of everyone that this did not happen. A brilliant campaign.

I notice that the Chairman especially thanked those in the public gallery for their good behaviour.

First, and hopefully the last, time I've ever watched a webcast of a council meeting! But damn good viewing. My sincerest congratulations to everyone involved in all the efforts that made tonight the positive result it was!

Let's not forget that Wondermum (Sue) was superb in what were very emotionally trying circumstances. To have coped with what she and Pete have been through and to step up to the breach in the full glare of National publicity (and what may enter the record books as the most widely watched webcast of a local planning meeting ever) like that was truly tremendous.

Wondermum deserves a gong! I take my hat off to her.
